Castle of Neudahn: Its History: Probably, the castle was built by Heinrich Mursel von Tan, a ministerial of Speyer. The castles Name Neudahn (New-Dahn) is misleading, as it is actually older than the more widely known castle of Grafendahn. Its hill-top location allowed control over the valley of the Wieslauter. Castle of Altdahn: The Castle of Altdahn is part of the Castle Group of Dahn (Altdahn, Grafendahn and Tanstein). It is located in the southern palatinate forest, the Wasgau, east to the city of Dahn. The arrangement of three major fortifications in a triangle form is remarkable and can't be found anywhere else. The history of Altdahn is partly forgotten. it was founded in the 13th century. Until the 16th century, owners changed several times. During the war of Palatinate Succession in 1689, the castle was badly damaged by the French. The Devils table: The remarkable Rock formation is situated on top of a rolling hill south of the B 10. From the village of Hinterweidenthal,it's within walking distance (several minutes). Erosion formed the table-shaped sandstone rock. While the more soft layers of rock vanished over the years, a more solid plate was left above.
